Safe Shallows
Thalassophina Calida · 0 – 100m · Aurora surroundings
The spawn point and first biome every player knows. Bright, calm, and rich in starter resources — Limestone Outcrops, Sandstone Outcrops, Copper, Titanium, and edible fish are all abundant here. The cave networks below the shallows hide Crash Fish, Creepvine Seeds, and early blueprint fragments. The only real dangers are Stalkers in adjacent Kelp Forest patches and the Crashfish lurking in the cave openings.

Kelp Forest
Stalkers
Titanium, Copper
Dense columns of Creepvine surround the Safe Shallows. Stalkers patrol aggressively and collect Metal Salvage. Primary source of Creepvine Seeds for Silicone Rubber and Fiber Mesh. Reginald fish can be found at depth here.
25 – 250m
Grassy Plateaus
Sand Sharks, Gasopods
Sandstone, Limestone
Open grassland biome surrounding the Safe Shallows. Dotted with Sandstone and Limestone outcrops — the best early resource zone outside the shallows. Sand Sharks ambush from the substrate. Gasopods drift slowly, releasing toxic clouds when threatened.
100 – 300m
Mushroom Forest
Mostly passive
Shale, Magnetite
Two disconnected clusters of enormous bioluminescent tree mushrooms. Relatively safe — home mainly to Cave Crawlers and Ampeels at the deeper edges. Shale Outcrops here yield Lithium and Diamonds reliably. Contains several Cyclops and Scanner Room fragments.

3× Reaper Leviathan
Metal Salvage, Titanium
The debris field surrounding the Aurora wreck. Dense with Metal Salvage and wreckage fragments — some of the best loot in the game lies inside the Aurora itself. Three Reaper Leviathans patrol the zone. Radiation armour is required before the Aurora reactor repair.
0 – 500m
Mountains
Reaper Leviathans
Magnetite, Ruby
Rocky mountain range rising to the surface in the northeast. Home to multiple Reaper Leviathans and Bone Sharks. Rich in Magnetite Outcrops — critical for Scanner Room upgrades and HUD Chip. Contains the Mountain Island above the surface and the Alien Thermal Plant entrance below.
150 – 300m
Underwater Islands
Ampeels, Bone Sharks
Shale, Basalt
Gravity-defying floating stone islands suspended mid-water. One of the most visually distinctive biomes. Contains several Shale Outcrops and is one of the best biomes for Lithium. Ampeels nest around the island undersides — bring a Seamoth with Perimeter Defense.
150 – 550m
Grand Reef
Ghost Leviathan (juvenile)
Shale, Uraninite
Vast coral reef system descending to over 500m. Home to juvenile Ghost Leviathans and Warpers at depth. The Degasi Seabases are located here, containing vital lore entries. Uraninite Crystals spawn reliably on the deeper floor sections.
250 – 700m
Blood Kelp Zone
Warpers, Crabsquids
Kyanite (trench), Gel Sacks
Two disconnected clusters of crimson kelp draped in near-total darkness. Dense with Warpers and Crabsquids that disable electronics on contact. One of the primary routes down to the Lost River. The Trench variant descends significantly deeper and is extremely hostile.
200 – 600m
Sea Treader's Path
Sea Treader Leviathans
Limestone, Sandstone (passive)
Relatively open biome traversed by herds of passive Sea Treader Leviathans. As they walk, they kick up Limestone and Sandstone — making this a low-effort passive resource farm. Few hostile creatures. One of the calmer mid-depth zones to traverse in a Seamoth.

Lost River
Bioluminescent deep-cave network · 800 – 1040m
The largest and most complex cave system on 4546B. A bioluminescent network of tunnels connecting the mid-depths to the Lava Zones below. Patrolled by three adult Ghost Leviathans — avoidable with patience and a Cyclops on Silent Running. Holds the Ancient Skeleton fossil, the Disease Research Facility, and the only reliable source of Nickel Ore. The primary route to the Inactive Lava Zone and beyond.

Inactive Lava Zone
Sea Dragon Leviathan
Kyanite, Crystalline Sulfur
Enormous cavern of cooled lava formations accessed via the Lost River. Contains the Lava Castle — the only reliable location for Kyanite, required for the Prawn Suit Depth Upgrade Mk II and the Cyclops Depth Module Mk III. One Sea Dragon Leviathan patrols this area.

Active Lava Zone
2× Sea Dragon Leviathan
Prawn Suit required
The deepest reachable biome. Active rivers of molten lava run throughout — the Cyclops cannot enter safely. Only the Prawn Suit (with both depth upgrades) can operate here. The Primary Containment Facility and Sea Emperor Leviathan are located in this zone, as is the final story objective.
